What is the Golf Putting Pro Stimp rating?
Stimp is a roll-distance reading taken on the completed green, so the result changes with the base, contours, infill quantity and distribution, fibre condition and ongoing care.
That flexibility lets an Ausgrass putting green be installed and tuned around the feel you want, then checked in both directions once the surface has settled. The typical stimp rating for the Ausgrass Golf Putting Pro is 9-11 using the recommended sand infill quantity.

AUSGRASS SANDING SPECIFICATION
Install one 20kg bag of artificial grass sand for every 3–5m². This provides greater protection to the stitching, allowing it to hold its form longer while also providing a consistently smooth rolling surface. For a slower roll, use a 20kg bag of artificial grass sand every 3-4 square metres. To achieve a faster roll, use a higher quantity of sand. By using more or less sand, you are increasing and decreasing the amount of flexibility in the grass blades which creates more or less resistance to the ball as it rolls.
Fine-tune pace with sand infill.
Sand changes how firmly the short fibres are supported. Always tune the complete green gradually and keep the infill even.
More evenly settled sand.
A small, even top-up can support the fibres more firmly and often increases roll distance. Apply dry, kiln dried sand in light passes, brush it down into the pile, allow the surface to settle, then test again.
Less sand at the surface.
If the completed green rolls too quickly, an installer can carefully remove excess sand, re-level it and retest. Do not leave the turf under-filled: enough infill must remain to stabilise the surface and support consistent roll.
Start to specification
Use the Ausgrass 20kg per 3–5m² recommendation across the whole green.
Brush between passes
Work each light application down evenly; heavy single drops can trap fibres and create irregular roll.
Let it settle
Roll, brush and use the green before deciding whether another small adjustment is needed.
Measure both ways
Test a level area in opposing directions and average the distances for a more useful reading.
